Obesity has become the #1 public health issue in the US.

Obesity is described in terms of body fat. It correlates to 20% or more body fat in men and 30% or more body fat in women. About 45% of Americans are at risk medically because of their weight. The typical overweight person at age 50 puts on 1 to 2 pounds each year since age 20 and it shows.

Why is obesity the #1 public health issue in the US? Because it's costing us billions and billions of dollars in health care costs and it doesn’t discriminate. It affects every ethnic and social-economic group, males and females, the old, the middle aged and increasingly, the young.

The thing is, we know that as a society we are fat. We see the evidence everywhere we go. In fact when we see someone at a “normal” weight, they kind of look out of place. No wonder we love our movie stars. They have perfect bodies that we envy. Well you may never have a perfect body but you can have a shapelier, healthier one.

Folks, We's A Hurtin'

I don’t want to beat you over the head with statistics but….these are alarming and pretty much preventable with proper nutrition and exercise. In other words, you don’t have to fall victim to these diseases. TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH.

• 70% of people die from 4 main causes: Heart Disease, Cancer, Stroke and Diabetes.

• 35 million (10%) of people in US live with heart disease and 1.5 million people die each year from heart disease.

• 70% of cancer cases are diet and weight related.

• 70% of stroke cases are related to high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

• We’ve seen a doubling in childhood diabetes over the past 10 years. Healthcare costs for a diabetic are 5 times higher than an average person’s. If you develop diabetes, it may be difficult or impossible for you to get or keep health insurance.

• Diabetes is 90% preventable through proper nutrition, proper weight maintenance and daily exercise. Type 2 or adult-onset diabetes is 100% preventable!
